Hutchins Bros have an on-going staff development program, engaging new apprentices and trainees annually and providing career progression training for existing staff. We have a variety of opportunities for individuals looking for careers in the steel industry.

DUAL-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Hutchins Bros engage 1-2 apprentices annually to complete a dual apprenticeship. This is how it works:

First Year: The first year of the apprenticeship is spent in our paint shed, learning the Protective Coatings side, while gaining a Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application. 

Years 2-4: For the next three years, the apprentice moves into the workshop, and attend TAFE, completing their Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade.

Final Year: Once their TAFE certificate is complete, the last year of the apprenticeship is spent refining knowledge and skills of the trade.

INDUSTRY TOURS

Through partnership with local high schools, TAFE NSW, and ‘Grow Our Own’, Hutchins Bros have facilitated a number of Industry Tours of our business. This provides students and individuals the opportunity to learn more about what we do and the various career opportunities within the steel industry.

WORK EXPERIENCE
