ABOUT US

Located in Narrandera, NSW, Hutchins Bros specialise in structural steel fabrication and have been operating for more than 40 years.

Through industry partnerships, we provide the entire Structural Steel package, inclusive of design and shop detailing, right through to fabrication, protective coatings, transport, and installation.

Employing more than 30 staff across the different areas of the business, Hutchins Bros have a workshop output capacity of 40-100 tonnes of steel per week depending on the intricacy of the work at hand.

OUR HISTORY

  • 1980

    Hutchins Bros is established as a business by brothers Stewart & Graham Hutchins, with the aim of specialising in Farm Sheds.

  • 1982

    As the business grew, production was moved to a purpose built workshop at 104 Dougals Street, Narrandera.

  • 1985

    Graham left the business to pursue other interests, with his half share purchased by Stewart and wife Jenny.

  • 1995

    Following years of success in general fabrication for the rural sector, the business branched into commercial and industrial construction in the Riverina.  

  • 2004

    A 50% stake in the business is sold to Stewart and Jenny’s son, Bill, and wife Heidi. Business expands to supply into Metropolitan ACT and NSW.

  • 2009

    Hutchins Bros relocates to a new, larger purpose-built facility at Red Hill Industrial Estate, Narrandera.

  • 2011

    Bill and Heidi purchase the remaining 50% stake of the business.

    Hutchins Bros commission the first stage of Automation Program, installing the Python X Beamline.

  • 2019

    Workshop floor-space expansion.

    The Kinetic 1200 Plasma Cutter is installed, commissioning the second stage of Automation Program.

  • 2022

    Commission third stage of Automation Program - AGT Robotics BeamMaster Welding Robot.

    Heidi Hutchins

    With a Bachelor of Building Construction Management (UNSW - 1st Class Honours), Heidi has more than 20 years experience in Construction Contract Management and Administration. Also with a background in property equity research, she has a comprehensive understanding of the elements required for business success. Heidi is responsible for managing Hutchins Bros operations, administration, and business development. She maintains an active role in the tender and project delivery process to ensure client satisfaction. Heidi also oversees the development and application of our Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management Systems.

    Bill Hutchins

    After completing his apprenticeship at Hutchins Bros in the 90s, Bill has over 30 years of hands-on experience in the steel industry. He has comprehensive knowledge of all facets of structural steel fabrication and erection, enabling him to foresee and find solutions to issues, prior to fabrication. Bill also holds an AS2214 Welding Supervisor Certification. His leadership ensures the company retains its family values and important long-term relationships during periods of exciting growth and change. Bill’s practical experience has proven to be the ideal preparation to enable him to successfully lead the organisation into the future.
